The flamenco superstar Sara Baras makes a welcome return to London with her latest intoxicating flamenco spectacle, Sombras.
Acclaimed for her charismatic stage presence and floor-pummelling footwork, Baras draws on a dance thread that has woven its way through her career, as she celebrates the 20th anniversary of her company. La Farruca, with its dramatic fast-footwork, is usually reserved for men. Performing alongside six dancers and accompanied by seven musicians, Baras, “a woman who can dance up not just a flamenco storm, but a hurricane” (The Guardian), claims La Farruca as her own.
**** “A true star. She has that indefinable can’t-take-your-eyes-off-her quality” Metro
“A formidable dancer” The Guardian
"The unmistakable stamp of a flamenco superstar" Daily Telegraph
“The super-talented flamenco diva, for there's no other word, is one of the most proficient dancers of her generation. Compact and powerful, she has awesome energy and laser sharp foot-work” Evening Standard

a fantastic performance
Excellent show with unbelievable energy and emotion. Highly recommended!
Full of passion. We were absorbed for the whole show. Strong performances, dancers and musicians gave 110%. Costumes and lighting spot on. Over 2 hours performance with no break - excellent value for money and a thoroughly enjoyable night out.
Amazing performance, great ambient
Having never been to a flamenco show, we didn't know what to expect. I came with my mother. We enjoyed the performance, even though we agreed it's not our favourite style of dance. The setting, lighting and costumes were impressive. The dancers' technique - impeccable. And it's their passion that was contagious and made it enjoyable for us. Would have preferred a venue in West End.
very good.
The show was Amazing
Loved every minute!!
Amazing show, it's a very traditional (not very commercial) approach to Flamenco so you'll like it very much if you listen what's in there and what they are trying to communicate. It might be worth it to take tickets closer to the stage, as there are a lot of facial expression, body movement and interactions will be best appreciated from the right distance. I think the way she dance is amazing, but also the ballet squad is amazing. The music is played live on stage and this makes the performance standing above many many others. It's a full immersion experience about the close connection between the music, the rhythm, the body, the people, the culture.
I thought it was an astonishingly generous and constantly entertaining mix of music, dance and spectacle..
Excellent flamenco show!
