Her Name Was Carmen starring Irina Kolesnikova and the soloists and corps de ballet of the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre with the Orchestra of English National Opera
'Truly a thing of remarkable beauty... [Irina Kolesnikova] alone is worth the ticket' Daily Telegraph on Swan Lake
'A rare phenomenon' Sunday Express on Swan Lake
Following last year’s sell-out season, world's leading ballerina Irina Kolesnikova returns
to the London Coliseum with a new take on an old classic, Her Name Was Carmen.
Fiery, rich and beautiful, Carmen is a deadly cocktail of passion and tragedy. After her family is brutally murdered, Carmen finds shelter in a refugee camp on the outskirts of Europe... here she becomes entangled in a love triangle with tragic consequences.
Her Name Was Carmen is a new full-length ballet in two acts brought to life by 50 dancers from the critically acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre. It is set to a re-orchestrated version of Bizet's much-loved score, and is played live by the orchestra of English National Opera.

Very good service re tickets and very helpful and kind manager at the theatre. The production was a little disappointing as others have found. The Colleseum is a wonderful theatre with a great orchestra
The performances by the three principle dancers were very good but I found the staging overall uninspired. The Setting of the Coliseum always makes for a good night out though.
Fantastic performances throughout, viewed from great seats. A truly brilliant new ballet.
I was astonished seeing amazing performance of Irina Kolesnikova and the whole new interpretation of the novel. It proves that classics is immortal.
We thoroughly enjoyed the performance but do believe it would be helpful to provide people with a brief single sheet synopsis of the story as they enter the auditorium rather than expect them to pay £8.00 for a programme, beautiful though that is! It was evident from listening to people last night that there was some confusion about the story behind the performance. It differs from the opera and a free, or minimal cost, synopsis would have enhanced people's experience and thus their enjoyment.
Marvellous colours and staging. Beautiful and moving dancing.
Don't waste your time going to this under rehearsed and boring production. It was terribly expensive and poor value for money. Boring choreography, boring single set. Nothing good to say about it and there were LOTS of empty seats. One star is too generous. But I give it to the only exciting performer - the matador.
The lead dancers were great but the production was uninspired
Amazing location and performance!!!
